This tutorial assumes you are already logged into cPanel.
Click on the PASSWORD PROTECT DIRECTORY link.
Click on the directory you wish to protect.
Select the check box to PROTECT the directory with a password.
Now type in a NAME for the protected directory in the provided box.
The directory is now protected and will require a password to enter it via a browser. Therefore, you must create at LEAST ONE USER and assign a PASSWORD to access the directory.
Click the GO BACK link.
Enter a USER NAME in the space provided, along with a PASSWORD.
Click ADD/MODIFY AUTHORIZED USER button.
Repeat this process for all additional users you want to have access.
Click the GO BACK button. You will now see the active AUTHORIZED USER list for the protected directory.
You can return to this screen at any time to modify existing user passwords, add more users or delete users.
Return to the DIRECTORY LIST by clicking the link at the bottom of your page.
Click the UP ONE LEVEL link.
Notice the new LOCKBOX next to the protected directory? This indicates the directory is PASSWORD PROTECTED.
